Automatic or reviewed?

Whether to let Staklio place bookings on its own, or look at each one.

Once you have picked a model, one question is left: does Staklio act on it by itself, or does it ask you first? Both use the same ranking — the difference is only who presses the button.

Note: Worth saying plainly: most properties do neither. They leave assignment to the PMS and use Staklio to watch how earnings land. Read this when you are considering handing the decision over, not as something you are expected to have set up.

Let it run automatically when

  • •The ranking is doing what you want and you have stopped disagreeing with it.
  • •Arrivals are steady and nobody has time to review each one.
  • •Your rooms are close to interchangeable, so the choice rarely matters much.

Review each one when

  • •You are new to this and want to see what it would do before it does it.
  • •Rooms differ in ways Staklio cannot see — a view, a floor, a guest who always gets the same room.
  • •Housekeeping matters on the day: an early arrival should not land in a room that has not been cleaned.
  • •You are settling an owner dispute and want a record of who decided what.

A reasonable path

Watch first. Leave routing off and use the balancer to see which rooms it would favour and why. When the ranking stops surprising you, that is the moment to consider handing it the decision — reviewed first if the queue is available to you, automatic once you have stopped overruling it.

If you find yourself often disagreeing with the ranking, that is worth knowing too. It usually means a different model fits your property better, not that the routing is wrong.

Note: Occupancy changes how much this matters. Below about 70% there is nearly always a free room near the top of the queue, so the choice is easy either way. Above 85% the first few rooms are often taken and the difference between models starts to show in the numbers.

Can I switch back and forth?

Yes, on the property's routing card. Neither mode changes bookings that were already placed.

Does automatic ever ask?

No. If you want to be asked, use Suggest.
